Long Term Care: Myths and Facts

70% of the population nationwide will need some form of long term care this year. In California the average cost of nursing home care is over $97,000 a year, while an assisted living facility can cost over $51,000. Learn more about what Medicare will cover, the various types of residential facilities, elder abuse, and current legislation affecting long term care residents.

On Saturday March 10th, Patricia McGinnis, Executive Director of the California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform (CANHR) will speak at the Glen Park Branch; and on Thursday March 15th, Julie Pollock, Program Director, will speak at the Learning Studio, 5th floor, Main Library. Both programs start at 3:00 p.m.

CANHR is a non-profit advocacy organization founded in 1983. Its goal is to educate and support long term care consumers and advocates in California.
