Journalism and FOIA

For Sunshine Week and beyond
Event detail

The Freedom of Information Act has been federal law since 1967. With exceptions, anyone can request unpublished documents from the federal government. In some cases, the use of FOIA by journalists can have dramatic results for an investigation. The stories in this display are concerned with public health, military operations, firearms research, and more. The display begins during 2018's Sunshine Week, a week devoted to the concept of transparent government.
