Ocean View is celebrating SWANA Heritage Month with an Open House featuring a variety of wonderful activities!  Along with a team from the Contemporary Jewish Museum, families will create custom designs using block printing on fabric, exploring symbols and patterns found throughout the cultures of Southwest Asia and North Africa, including the Hamsa. In the end, they will learn about the art of fabric folding on mini-mannequins. This program is inspired by Veiled Meanings: Fashioning Jewish Dress, from the Collection of The Israel Museum, Jerusalem on view August 30, 2018–January 6, 2019 at The Contemporary Jewish Museum, San Francisco.

This program is part of SWANA at the Library, honoring the diverse cultures, traditions and histories of Southwest Asian and North African heritage. All events are free and open to the public. See the SWANA program guide (PDF)
