Come see the exhibition Portals: A Group Show of Speculative Fictions, on view August 18 – December 13, 2018, in the Hormel Center at the main branch of the San Francisco Public Library. The exhibition's opening event will feature a performance by sound artists Babooshka.

Portals: A Group Show of Speculative Fictions activates the radical imagination through craft and speculative fiction, giving form to what seems otherwise impossible. The multiverse theory is defined as a theoretical reality that includes a possibly infinite number of parallel universes. Ten artists envision relationships to space and time through the lenses of science-fiction, revenge fantasies, survival, role models, and anti-assimilationist bodies. This show features work by: Dana June Baker, Bo, Becca Cohn, Mona Demone, Zerena Diaz, Jared Gruendl, Lacey Johnson, Leslie Mah, Alex Martinez, and Marissa Medina.

Gather, share knowledge and celebrate our unique identities at the queerest library ever. Visit the James C. Hormel LGBTQIA Center, the gateway to the Library’s broader collections documenting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex and allies’ history and culture, with a special emphasis on the San Francisco Bay Area.

This is a Performance program from SFPL. We host events featuring music, art, dance and more.
