Join author and educator, Anam Zakaria, as she discusses her book Between the Great Divide: A Journey into Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory caught between two nuclear powers, India and Pakistan. The native Kashmiris have endured decades of artillery barrages and attacks from militants and soldiers of both sides.
Ms. Zakaria will discuss her journey through Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Her deeply empathetic book brings forth the honest voices of native Kashmiri who are often ignored in discussions on the present and future of their home. These voices and Zakaria's observations offer unique insight into this tragic ongoing situation.
Anam Zakaria is a Pakistani development professional, educator, and author who also wrote The Footprints of Partition: Narratives of Four Generations of Pakistanis and Indians, published by Harper Collins India in 2015. She is currently Head of Civic Innovation Fellowship Program at Code For Pakistan and Director of Programs & Outreach at the Association for the Development of Pakistan (ADP). In 2018, she was named in the Asia 21 Young Leaders Program of the Asia Society. She received her degree in International Development from McGill University.
