Event detail
Add to my calendar

Hear the story of how Chinese emigrants crossed the Pacific to come to California between 1867–1875, and where they took their first steps in America, and how one hopeful return voyage turned to tragedy in the South China Sea. Author Robert Wells presents a slide talk about San Francisco's 19th century port of entry for the Chinese. Wells's book, Voices from the Bottom of the South China Sea: The Untold Story of America's Largest Chinese Emigrant Disaster will be available for purchase.
