Can the tissues of chicken, cow, pig and fish really be grown in the laboratory? How do cultured meats taste, and how much do they cost? Alongside the enormous animal welfare issue, does in vitro meat have health implications for humans and for the planet at large? These are questions being tackled by scientists at companies in the US and abroad.

Our speaker, Dr. Nicholas Legendre, is the Director of Biological Research at New Age Meats, a Bay Area "clean meat" organization.

This program is presented in collaboration with Wonderfest, the Bay Area Beacon of Science and is part of the 2019 Bay Area Science Festival.

This is a Food & Health program from SFPL. Try out new foods or a new healthy activity.
