Ant Farm - Cadillac Ranch photo

This program is a visual presentation of selected projects both within and beyond Ant Farm (radical architectural collective) that involve the culture of the automobile. Chip Lord looks at the automobile as a major shaping force in 20th Century America, and as a material of art-making. Ant Farm’s Cadillac Ranch will be presented in detail, but lesser known works such as Chevrolet Training Film: The Remake, Cars & Owners, photo series, and Easy Living (1984) will also be discussed. Recent works such as The New Cars, 2012 and SHOT FROM TAXI will also be shown. “Peak Air Travel: To & From LAX”  first shown at Los Angeles International Airport as part of a Public Video Art installation, and then revised and shown in The Museum of Capitalism exhibition, Oakland, 2017 will also be included.

This same program will be given at the Toledo Art Museum in Toledo, Ohio on June 20, 2019.
