This film follows the storied life of United States First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt (Jean Stapleton in an Emmy-nominated role) after the death of her husband, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, in 1945.  At the request of the new president, Harry Truman, Eleanor serves as a United Nations delegate, spending much of her time contending with dedicated anti-FDR politico John Foster Dulles.  She goes on to champion the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Celebrate United Nations Week and the 135th anniversary of the birth of Eleanor Roosevelt.  Light refreshments will be served. G, 120 mins., 1982.
