Read for the Record

Millions Read for the Record on October 25th

We aim to break  a reading record on October 25th.  The San Francisco Public Library will be partnering with Jumpstart’s Read for the Record® global campaign to highlight the importance of building early literacy and language skills for every child so that every child has the opportunity to enter kindergarten prepared to succeed.

This year’s pick is, Maybe Something Beautiful, written by F. Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell, illustrated by Rafael López.  It is the story of a little girl named Mira and her encounter with an muralist that led to them transform their drab grey San Diego neighborhood with vibrant colors and images and how community-led art created the beautiful San Diego Urban Art Trail.

For more information on Jumpstart’s campaign visit the Read for the Record website. Or bring your family to one of the locations below who will be hosting a reading of Maybe Something Beautiful and we maybe can break the record together!
