The San Francisco History Center Subject Collections consist of photographs and works on paper, from the 1850s to the present. These collections include views of San Francisco street scenes, buildings, and neighborhoods. A large part of this collection consists of the photograph morgue of the San Francisco News-Call Bulletin newspaper, dating from the 1920's-1965, when the collection was donated to the library. These lists include photographs and works on paper that have not been digitized.
The San Francisco Subject Collection is arranged alphabetically by subject heading. San Francisco Line Drawings consists of works on paper. Use the guides to request photographs and works on paper during the open hours of the Photo Desk. Thousands of the photographs in the subject guide have been added to the online database.
