State of the Environment

7/01/13 - 10/03/2013

Main Library

Skylight Gallery Exhibit Area - 6th Floor

100 Larkin St.

Almost 40 years ago, EPA's Documerica project captured thousands of compelling images of environmental problems and the state of American life. Documerica (1971-1977) was an unprecedented, EPA photo-documentary project, with nearly 100 of the country’s top photojournalists tasked to document environmental issues and everyday life in areas of their choice.

State of the Environment is collecting current photographs (2011 – 2013) of our way of life and environment worldwide. Following 2013, this will become an annual weeklong event to document environmental progress and change.  Today, State of the Environment is a global opportunity for anyone to freely share their view of the changes in our way of life and environment.
