SUMMARY:Film: Bram Stoker's Dracula and "Much Ado About Keanu" Book Talk
DESCRIPTION:
Sezin Devi Koehler, author of Much Ado About Keanu: A Critical Reeves Theory presents a new set of lenses through which to experience Keanu Reeves movies from an intersectional perspective that includes history, politics, queer theory, and more. Devi Koehler will provide an introduction before the film that includes her historically based reading that vindicates Keanu's widely panned British accent. Discussion to follow.

Jonathan Harker is a young lawyer who is assigned to a gloomy village just outside of Transylvania. He is forced to stay at the castle of the undead vampire Dracula and imprisoned by his minons. Dracula travels to London after being inspired by a photograph of Harker's betrothed, Mina Murray. Once Dracula lands in England, his reign of seduction and terror begins. He drains the life from Mina's closest friend, Lucy Westenra. Lucy's friends, including her fiancé, gather together to try to drive Dracula away.

Bram Stoker's Dracula is available on DVD and Blu-ray, free with your SFPL library card.

R, 127 mins., 2007.
