DESCRIPTION:<p>Each author will read a selection from their work, followed by Q&A with the audience, moderated by author Cliff Winnig</p><p>Book signing and schmoozing follows at close of event!!&nbsp; Books will be for sale courtesy of Fly By Night Books, and attendees are welcome to bring their own books from home for signatures.</p><p>~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<br><strong>ABOUT THE AUTHORS</strong></p><p><strong>Kate Maruyama </strong>is the author of <i>Alterations, The Collective, Bleak Houses </i>and <i>Harrowgate</i>,<i> </i>and her novella <i>Family Solstice</i> was named Best Fiction Book of 2021 by <i>Rue Morgue Magazine. </i>Her short work has appeared in numerous journals and anthologies, and she is a two-time Pushcart Prize nominee and winner of the Uncharted Short Story Prize.&nbsp;She served on the working Board for Women Who Submit and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Shirley Jackson Awards. She has also taught writing at many writing conferences, such as the Mendocino Coast Writers’ Conference, the California Writers’ Club, Sebastopol Center for the Arts and others. With six books on the craft of writing, including the forthcoming <i>The Sound of Story: Developing Voice and Tone in Writing</i>,&nbsp;Rosenfeld is also the author of three novels, most recently <a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S93C7251052"><i>Fallout</i></a>, <i>Women in Red</i> and <i>Forged in Grace</i>, and her work can be found in national publications such as <i>The Atlantic</i>, <i>Mental Floss</i>, <i>The New York Times</i>,<i> Pacific Standard</i>, <i>The Rumpus</i>, <i>Scientific American</i> and many others.&nbsp;Learn more about her writing workshops and coaching at <a href="https://jordanrosenfeld.net/">https://jordanrosenfeld.net/</a>.</p><p><strong>Sumiko Saulson</strong> is a cartoonist, poet, science-fiction, fantasy and horror writer and the editor of <i>Black Magic Women</i>, <i>Scry of Lust</i> and <i>100 Black Women in Horror Fiction</i>.&nbsp;Their works include <a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S93C6697778"><i>Solitude</i></a>,<i> Warmth</i>, <i>The Moon Cried Blood</i>, <i>Happiness and Other Disease</i>s<i>, Somnalia</i>, <i>Insatiable</i>,<i> Ashes and Coffee</i> and <i>Things That Go Bump In My Head</i>. They wrote and illustrated the comics <i>Mauskaveli, Dooky</i> and graphic novels <i>Dreamworlds</i> and <i>Agrippa</i>.
