She is celebrated for her expertise in vegetarian cooking. Having moved to the United States in 1964 for college, she settled in San Francisco in 1973, where she actively participated in the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.foundsf.org/index.php?title=The_Food_Conspiracy">Food Conspiracy</a>&nbsp;and co-founded&nbsp;<a href="https://www.foundsf.org/index.php?title=People%27s_Food_System">The San Francisco Bay Area’s Peoples Food System</a>. Retired from co-ownership of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.otheravenues.coop/">Other Avenues</a>, a worker-owned food cooperative, she continues to contribute articles on food, nutrition and cooking to co-op newsletters and local newspapers such as Richmond Review/Sunset Beacon&nbsp;while teaching vegetarian cooking classes.</p>
