To build on this week's episode, we have assembled a panel to discuss police violence and attempts to end it. We'll speak to Mime Troupe collective member Velina Brown and Oakland-based activist James Burch.

Burch is the Director of Policy of the Anti Police Terror Project, a Black-led, multi-racial, intergenerational coalition that seeks to build a replicable and sustainable model to eradicate police terror in communities of color. Burch received his JD from Georgetown Law, where he studied civil rights law, and has investigated human rights abuses in prisons, jails and courts around Georgia and Alabama.

Velina Brown has been a principal performer for the Mime Troupe in such shows as City for Sale, Eating It, 1600 Transylvania Avenue, Mr. Smith Goes to Obscuristan and Showdown at Crawford Gulch to name a few. In February 2017 Velina was given the Getting Played: Equity in the Entertainment Industry Award at Stanford University, and in 2012 she was honored as one of TBA's "35 Faces," artists who've made significant contributions to the Bay Area theater community.
