DESCRIPTION:<p>Explore Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart&rsquo;s classic opera,&nbsp;<em>Don Giovanni</em>, in a 90-minute presentation by scholar and musicologist Derek Katz.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dr. Derek Katz&nbsp;is an Associate Professor of Music History at the University of California, Santa Barbara, from which he received his PhD in 2000. He also holds a degree from Harvard&nbsp;and has studied at The Free University of Berlin on a Fulbright Fellowship. A specialist in Czech music,&nbsp;Dr. Katz&nbsp;has published articles in&nbsp;<em>Musical Quarterly</em>&nbsp;and in multiple Czech journals. A violist who plays in an amateur string quartet in the summer, he has also contributed chapters to books on&nbsp;<em>Nineteenth Century Chamber Music</em>&nbsp;as well as to&nbsp;<em>Jan&aacute;ček and His World.</em>&nbsp;Additionally, he studies mid-20<sup>th</sup>&nbsp;century institutional support for professional string quartets in the United States.&nbsp;</p>
