The society&nbsp;was formed in 1982 to&nbsp;promote and share the rich Chinese heritage through traditional,&nbsp;classical, folk and contemporary music.&nbsp; Its main mission is to&nbsp;introduce the music of guzheng (an ancient Chinese stringed instrument&nbsp;dating back 2500 years) to the San Francisco Bay Area.</p>
