SUMMARY:Presentation: Honeybees in San Francisco
DESCRIPTION:
Find out why bees can flourish in an urban area, how they organize themselves to survive and what we can do to help them overcome the many natural and man-made challenges they face. Local beekeeper, Kevin McKean, will cover a few key lessons that human beings might learn from our oldest and best insect allies and he'll bring samples of local honey for those who want a taste!

Kevin McKean is a veteran journalist who got into beekeeping eight years ago, after a life-long fascination with these gentle, intelligent insects—as well as a passion for honey! He’s been a San Francisco resident since 2000 and currently serves on the board of the San Francisco Beekeepers Association, the non-profit league of local beekeepers.
