DESCRIPTION:<p>Rock author and music historian <a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/search?query=Unterberger%2C%20Richie&searchType=author">Richie Unterberger</a> presents a program&nbsp;on <a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/search?query=bacharach%2C%20burt&searchType=author">Burt Bacharach</a>, one of the most popular songwriters of the twentieth&nbsp;century. Often working with lyricist Hal David, Bacharach wrote pop, rock,&nbsp;and soul hits for Dionne Warwick, Dusty Springfield, Jackie DeShannon, Tom&nbsp;Jones, Herb Alpert, and numerous other stars. The program features&nbsp;performances from Bacharach's 1960s prime of hits like Warwick's "Don't&nbsp;Make Me Over," Springfield's "The Look of Love," Tom Jones's "What's New&nbsp;Pussycat."</p>

<p><a href="http://www.richieunterberger.com/">Richie Unterberger</a> is the author of numerous rock history books, including volumes on the Beatles, the Who, the Velvet Underground, Bob Marley and 1960s folk-rock. He teaches courses on rock and soul music history at several Bay Area colleges. His newest book, <em><a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S93C5107812">San Francisco: Portrait of a City</a> </em>was published in 2022&nbsp;by Taschen.</p>
