SUMMARY:Presentation: The Secret Life of Fog with Alicia Torregrosa, Fog Scientist
DESCRIPTION:
Join scientist Alicia Torregrosa for an evening of foggy storytelling.

Fog is incredibly important to Bay Area ecosystems, providing summertime moisture to coastal redwoods and playing a crucial role in the water and nutrient cycles. It also infuses our local art and literature, and our very identities as Bay Area residents. Learn how scientists map and measure this shape-shifting moisture as they work to predict future climate change impacts on our beloved, elusive fog.

Alicia was a physical scientist for 19 years with the USGS Western Geographic Science Centering prior to joining the USGS Southwest Regional Office as a Program Officer. In 2012 Alicia initiated the USGS Pacific Coastal Fog Project which resulted in an international and interdisciplinary expansion of coastal fog research. Her work has been cited by numerous other scientists and in the San Francisco Chronicle, Los Angeles Times and New York Times.
