<p>Yan is a Guzheng player, educator, and performer from Sichuan, China.&nbsp; She adapts American classic and contemporary music to Chinese guzheng to create her unique fusion music, mixing the rich tone of the West with the charm of the East.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Yan will be joined by Jennifer Li, a student from Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco, who has studied Guzheng with Melody for 6 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>Chinese Guzheng is an instrument with origins in the Warring States period, giving it around 2500 years of history. Stretched over a hollow wooden soundboard are 21 strings with moveable bridges beneath, adjustable along a pentatonic scale. This dynamic instrument is prominent in Chinese culture, the piano of the East.&nbsp;</p>
