DESCRIPTION:<p>The <a href="http://apiabiography.sfsu.edu">APIA Biography Project</a> enters its 12th annual AANHPI Heritage Month celebration at the Main Library with a kickoff event. This year’s theme takes flight into the magical world of storytelling and children’s literature by highlighting award-winning APIA (Asian Pacific Islander American) picture book authors and illustrators through book displays, games, and craft activities. Meet and read with local authors <a href="https://www.immedium.com/authors/chin_o.html"><strong>Oliver Chin</strong></a> and <a href="https://www.tracihuahn.com/about"><strong>Traci Huahn</strong></a>. Throughout May, visit <a href="http://apiabiography.sfsu.edu">apiabiography.sfsu.edu</a> to access videos, activities, and resources. View the “Wall of Fame” exhibit at the Children’s Center featuring <a href="https://www.ala.org/alsc/awardsgrants/bookmedia/caldecott">Caldecott award</a> recipients and participate in a scavenger hunt. The first 50 children ages 12 and under get a free prize bag!</p><p>This program is co-sponsored by the <a href="http://aas.sfsu.edu">Asian American Studies department</a> at San Francisco State University, <a href="https://www.apalaweb.org/">Association of Asian Pacific American Librarians (APALA)</a>, <a href="http://sfpl.org">San Francisco Public Library</a>, <a href="https://www.tactsf.org/">The Association of Chinese Teachers (TACT)</a>, and the <a href="https://www.squareandcircleclub.org/">Square and Circle Club</a>.</p>
