SUMMARY:Performance: California Fire & Water:  A Climate Crisis Anthology Reading
DESCRIPTION:<p>The chaos produced by our changing climate is steadily increasing. Poetry can be both solace and activism. Poets <a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/search?custom_edit=false&query=contributor%3A(fisk%2C%20molly)&searchType=bl&suppress=true">Molly Fisk</a> and <a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/search?custom_edit=false&query=contributor%3A(shuck%2C%20kim)&searchType=bl&suppress=true">Kim Shuck</a> invite you to hear poems from varied perspectives about wildfire, flooding and related catastrophes in California. They will be joined by six other contributors to the <a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S93C4590053"><i>California Fire & Water</i></a><i> </i>anthology: Gene Berson, <a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/search?custom_edit=undefined&query=contributor%3A(Bourbeau%2C%20Heather)&searchType=bl&suppress=true">Heather Bourbeau</a>, <a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/search?custom_edit=false&query=contributor%3A(Cassinetto%2C%20Aileen)&searchType=bl&suppress=true">Aileen Cassinetto</a>, Susan Cohen, <a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/search?custom_edit=false&query=contributor%3A(Luterman%2C%20Alison)&searchType=bl&suppress=true">Alison Luterman</a> and <a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/search?custom_edit=false&query=contributor%3A(Win%2C%20Maw%20Shein)&searchType=bl&suppress=true">Maw Shein Win</a>.&nbsp;</p><p>Both Fisk and Shuck were born and raised in San Francisco and were awarded inaugural National Laureate Fellowships from the Academy of American Poets in 2019.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Kim Shuck</strong> was the 7th&nbsp;Poet Laureate of San Francisco and is a Cherokee/Polish-American bead work artist and basket weaver. Among her many collections are <a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S93C4964985"><i>Exile Heart</i></a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S93C6440392"><i>Pick a Garnet to Sleep In</i></a>.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Molly Fisk </strong>was the 1st&nbsp;Poet Laureate of Nevada County. Of colonial New England ancestry, she is the editor of <a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S93C4590053"><i>California Fire & Water</i></a>.
