DESCRIPTION:<p>We continue SFPL’s 100 Years of Surrealism film series with a screening of selected surrealist short films, followed by a screening of director Jan Švankmajer’s surreal feature film <a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/search?custom_edit=false&query=(title%3A(alice)%20AND%20contributor%3A(svankmajer)%20)%20formatcode%3A(BLURAY%20OR%20VIDEO_DOWNLOAD%20OR%20DVD%20)&searchType=bl&suppress=true"><i>Alice</i></a>.</p><p>In <i>Alice</i> (1989), Czech animation master and surrealist artist<a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/search?query=%C5%A0vankmajer%2C%20Jan%2C&searchType=author"> Svankmajer</a> presents a dark, surrealistic interpretation of Lewis Carroll’s <i>Alice in Wonderland</i>, in which the young girl Alice follows a demonic rabbit through a decaying landscape littered with broken, discarded objects and nightmarish toys.
