Activity: Robot Art inspired by Nam June Paik

Live STEM Lab with SFPL
Tuesday, 8/3/2021
2:30 - 3:00

Do you like robots? We love robots! We are so excited to welcome Amy Lange, Senior Program Associate for Family Programs at SFMOMA with a robot art project inspired by Nam June Paik’s Untitled (Bakelite Robot)!

Use your art knowledge and combine it with your technology knowledge—upgrade your TV robot, make an army of tiny robots that combine into one giant robot—the possibilities are endless.

Art kits for the project are available starting July 29 at SFPL’s bookmobile sites on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2–6p.m. Art and technology are fun to combine, so get creative, and see what happens!

Supply List:

  • Nine cardboard boxes of similar size
  • Images of TV sets cut out from magazines, or draw your own so they fit on your cardboard boxes
  • Pen or pencil
  • Glue dots, glue, or tape
