Fodor's, Lonely Planet and Rick Steves travel guides are flying from library shelves. In its ongoing encouragement of patron wanderlust, Potrero Branch presents Born Free, the seventh movie of its Sunday Sojourn Cinema Series.

Elsa is the orphaned cub that senior game keeper, George Adamson, raises with his wife, Joy. In the process of caring for Elsa and teaching her to live free as an adult lioness in the Kenyan wilderness, the Adamsons re-establish a relationship with animals that mankind had once experienced.  As Joy Adamson wrote in the biography, Born Free: a Lioness of Two Worlds, "Elsa appeared and reopened to us the world to which we originally belonged and from which we became estranged as civilization progressed."

PG, 95 mins., 1965.

Director: James Hill, Tom McGowan

Stars: Virginia McKenna, Bill Travers

Seventh film of the Sunday Sojourn Cinema Series, Potrero Branch, June 12–August 28, 2022

A vagabond-spirited door prize will be raffled off when the film ends.
