Meet Margie and Lupe, two fifth-grade cousins who learn about family, dancing and themselves. Margie is proud to be born in the United States. Her family is from Mexico and her cousin, Lupe, arrives in California to live with her. As Lupe struggles with a new country and language, Margie is asked to help her. The cousins’ relationship becomes turbulent as Margie is faced with questions about her heritage and identity and Lupe learns of her father who left the family in Mexico years before. Side by side, through a shared love of dancing, Margie and Lupe embark on a journey of self-discovery, love and family. San Francisco Youth Theatre (SFYT) is thrilled to present a touring production of Dyana Díaz’s adaptation of Alma Flor Ada and Gabrielle Zubizaretta’s novel Dancing Home. Connect with the cast, crew and author Alma Flor Ada for a talk back after the performance.

School groups: Please call 415-557-4554 in advance to reserve a space.
