Twenty-five years ago, the anthology Revolutionary Voices introduced a rising generation of queer and trans youth leaders. Since then, the book has been celebrated, banned and adapted for the stage. As we face escalating attacks on LGBTQI communities, we’ll gather to recognize the book’s legacy, our collective power and its meaning in a new era.
Amy Sonnie, editor of Revolutionary Voices, and acclaimed movement leader Malkia Devich Cyril, along with special guests, will celebrate queer and trans voices across generations. Featuring Dani Gabriel, Alegria Barclay, Mar Balcita and Meliza Bañales, alongside Oakland’s youth poet laureate, Cael Dueñas-Lara and vice laureate, Sehinne Yohannes, and Karan Gupta, San Francisco's inaugural Youth Poet Laureate. With special guest Brandon Monokian, playwright and student organizer, and more to be announced.
