De Natura Libris is a contemplative photographic meditation on books as living objects. Rather than focusing solely on texts or authors, Álvaro Alejandro López turns his attention to the physical and emotional relationships that form between readers and the printed page. The series invites viewers to consider books not only as vessels of knowledge, but as tactile companions shaped by time, touch, and memory.
The project unfolds in dialogue with a constellation of writers from across cultures and generations. Their words and ideas resonate through the images, reinforcing the notion that reading is both solitary and shared. While the photographs remain visually restrained, they carry layers of meaning shaped by literature, philosophy, and personal memory. In this way, López bridges the abstract world of thought with the material presence of books, revealing how inner and outer landscapes intersect through acts of reading.
De Natura Libris es una meditación fotográfica contemplativa sobre los libros como objetos vivos. En lugar de centrarse únicamente en textos o autores, Álvaro Alejandro López pone su atención en las relaciones físicas y emocionales que se forman entre los lectores y la página impresa. La serie invita a los espectadores a considerar los libros no solo como vehículos de conocimiento, sino como compañeros táctiles moldeados por el tiempo, el uso y la memoria.
El proyecto desarrolla un diálogo con una constelación de escritores de distintas culturas y generaciones. Sus palabras e ideas resuenan a través de las imágenes, reforzando la idea de que la lectura es a la vez solitaria y compartida. Si bien las fotografías son visualmente sobrias, contienen capas de significado moldeadas por la literatura, la filosofía y la memoria personal. De esta manera, López conecta el mundo abstracto del pensamiento con la presencia material de los libros, revelando un cruce de paisajes interiores y exteriores a través de la imagen y la lectura.
