Breath. Fundamental and complex, instinctive and instructive, embodied and metaphorical, the process of breathing is at once a necessity and an opportunity. In this workshop, we explore our relationship to our breath, respiring toward deeper, fuller breath, full body relaxation and moments of serenity. For many of us who have experienced trauma, ease in our bodies may not be the norm. This workshop engages techniques derived from yogic and theatrical practices to move toward that ease, with no pressure to arrive there.

Set up: A supportive, comfortable surface such as a yoga mat or rug, or a comfortable chair if lying down isn't your thing. Room to move. If you don't have access to those things, no worries; come as you are and we'll make it work.

Accessibility: While are engaging in physical activities that may be prohibitive for some people, everyone is welcome to attend and adjust to their own ability and comfort. Instruction are given verbally and certain exercises are modeled visually. If you have questions about accessibility, or ideas about how we can make this event more accessible for you, please contact sfplcpp@sfpl.org.
