San Francisco Public Library Aids Patrons with Economic Recovery

Virtual Financial Planning Day at the Library offers free professional advice to help residents improve their financial outlook

San Francisco, CA – San Francisco Public Library, in partnership with the Financial Planning Association of San Francisco and the San Francisco Treasurer's Office, announces the 11th annual San Francisco Financial Planning Day on October 23, 2021 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. At this event, Bay Area residents will be able to meet virtually one-on-one with highly qualified Certified Financial Planner™ professionals to discuss their personal finance questions, concerns and interests. Spanish, Chinese, Filipino translation will be available for one-on-one consultations with advisors.

“Since COVID, we’ve seen a tremendous increase in participation from patrons who are seeking ways to regain their financial footing whether by changing careers or just getting some professional advice so that they can make smarter choices with their money,” says Librarian Lia Hillman. “For Financial Planning Day we take all the work out of researching professionals who can offer guidance on a host of topics related to personal finance, and we offer it all for free. There are only things to gain by taking part.”

The event is a great opportunity for a free, objective, private consultation with an expert on a wide variety of personal finance issues, including budgeting, debt management, retirement planning, investment strategies, income taxes and insurance, among many other topics.  In addition to the one-on-one virtual sessions, six financial workshops will be offered virtually and available for viewing in the Koret Auditorium of the Main library. Topics include: saving and paying for college, tax planning, investing basics and more. A local nonprofit will present on planning for home ownership.

There are no strings attached. Financial planners volunteer their time and do not promote with marketing materials or sell products or services. Prior in-person events have served 200-300 Bay Area residents each year.

The event is free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged:
