This is a hybrid event. Registration is required for Zoom attendance. In-person attendance does not require registration; seats available first come, first served.

The California Coalition for Women Prisoners (CCWP) presents a conversation with formerly incarcerated leaders who began their advocacy with CCWP from inside women’s prisons.  Hear about CCWP’s many programs, including The Fire Inside newsletter, published since 1996, and our Writing Warriors correspondence program. We will also share reflections from people currently incarcerated in women’s prisons on the library’s featured One City One Book—This Is Ear Hustle: Unflinching Stories of Everyday Prison Life.

Watch on YouTube.

For over two and a half decades, the CCEP has sustained a model of inside/outside organizing based on collective care and abolition feminism, challenging the abusive conditions inside wImage removed.omen’s prisons and fighting to bring people home.

California Coalition for Women Prisoners is a grassroots abolitionist organization—with members inside and outside prison—that challenges the institutional violence imposed on women, transgender people, and communities of color by the prison industrial complex (PIC). They see the struggle for racial and gender justice as central to dismantling the PIC and prioritize the leadership of the people, families, and communities most impacted in building this movement.
