San Francisco Public Library and New York Public Library youth librarians team up to talk about Asian-American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander representation in children's and young adult literature. Join BIPOC librarians Jen Woo (SFPL), Ileana Pulu (SFPL) and more Crystal Chen (NYPL), for a virtual conversation about favorite titles, authors, illustrators and more. Chen and Woo offer insight into their recent service on the Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA) Youth Award and share booklists, online resources and personal favorites.
The Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature, established in 2005, is to honor and recognize individual work about Asian/Pacific Americans and their heritage, based on literary and artistic merit.
