Dungeons & Dragons Summer Internship at SF Public Library

Ready to join the adventure?
The Dungeon & Dragons internship is a workforce development program designed for older teens that requires a weekly commitment over the summer. Interns will train and work collaboratively with a professional Dungeon Master and a teen librarian. Interns assist with weekly D&D campaigns in the Main Library Childrens’ Center, create social media posts, create original campaigns and lead programs at branch libraries.

What are the requirements for being selected for the D&D internship? 
Interns are required to attend weekly meetings, orientation and trainings that support content creation and development, execution and evaluation of leading a successful Dungeons & Dragons campaign along with learning more about the Library. Time commitment is 15-20 hours each week. Applicants must be enthusiastic about learning new job development skills and supporting the Library’s Mission Statement.

What are the dates of the D&D internship? 
The internship takes place between June and August. Sundays are mandatory workdays but hours can be made up for excused absences. Other workdays are flexible in-person and/or hybrid hours. Schedules will be discussed with mentors.

Is this a paid internship? 
Yes, interns will receive a stipend every two weeks.

How does a teen apply for the D&D internship? 
We are proud to partner with JCYC and SF YouthWorks to coordinate application submissions. Teens must:

  • Live in San Francisco
  • Attend 11th or 12th grade in Fall 2024 or Spring 2025
  • Be a recent graduate in Fall 2023 or Spring 2024

  • Select San Francisco Youthworks (SFYW) for Program you are applying to on page 1.
  • Fill out and submit application.
