School Year Teen Internships at SFPL

Teen Internships - Gaming, Making, Leading

What are Gaming Leaders, Makerspace Leaders, and Exploring Library Leaders?

The Mix at SFPL workforce program is a unique and fun opportunity to explore careers in public service for older teens. Interns work collaboratively with local librarians and programming mentors to help with weekend and after school maker and literacy activities for children and teens. Participation requires a weekly commitment of up to 10 hours per week over the school year.

What are the requirements for being selected?

Interns are required to attend weekly meetings and trainings that support the development and execution of library events and programs; participate in regular convenings of a Teen Advisory Board; and follow a regular schedule of tasks that explore library resources and careers. Applicants should be enthusiastic about learning more about the Library, supporting our Mission Statement, and working to make our community and Library better for teens through gaming, making, and reading.

What are the dates?

Site placement chats take place between late September and early October. Internship will take place between October and May. It is required that you are present for all (or almost all) of the scheduled shifts and meetings.

Is this a paid internship?
