Presented alongside The Continuing Story of Life on Earth: 25 Years of Hamburger Eyes, this companion display features rare street photography titles from the Art, Music & Recreation Department’s collection. The selected books show how photographers capture fleeting moments of everyday life on the streets in San Francisco and beyond. Like the work celebrated in Hamburger Eyes, these images reflect the simple act of watching, noticing and documenting the people, gestures and scenes that unfold in public space.
This exhibit is a satellite to The Continuing Story of Life on Earth: 25 Years of Hamburger Eyes exhibition on view in the Jewett Gallery on the Lower Level from April 23–Sept. 24, 2026.
