Learn about the Afro-Brazilian art form Capoeira in a fun, relaxed community and play-based environment. With a mix of martial arts, acrobatics, music and dance, participants will practice self-defense, movement and rhythm. Plan to dress in comfortable clothing that breathes, you'll be working up a sweat while telling stories as you learn the Capoeira movements. For children and their families.
Jarrel Phillips is an educator and visual storyteller utilizing mixed media to tell, preserve and connect our stories across the globe. His mediums include journalism, photography, film, performance and writing. Phillips explores the world through a socio-cultural context with emphasis on exploring the African diaspora and its global presence and influence.
