In Chinese culture, 2026 marks the year of the Fire Horse, a symbol of intensity, independence, transformation and dramatic change—themes that the Library draws upon for its programming throughout January and February.

Ten years ago, a spark of glitter and imagination lit up the San Francisco Public Library when Drag Story Hour (DSH) was born. As we live, learn and play on the traditional homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone, the Library invites its community to join in recognizing the enduring contributions of Native peoples, not just this month, but all year long.

This selection marks the 20th anniversary of the One City One Book program, marking two decades of community reading and conversation.
