Selected Speaker Bios:

Ashley M. Gjøvik is an engineering program manager, lawyer, and whistleblower. She worked at Apple in Silicon Valley from 2015 until Apple fired her in 2021. The abrupt termination occurred in the midst of numerous government investigations into the tech company triggered by Gjøvik's complaints about health & safety, workplace harassment, retaliation, and environmental compliance. Gjøvik also raised ethical concerns about Apple's software development practices including about privacy and consent for AI data collection. Apple's justification for firing Gjøvik claimed her complaints and allegations of misconduct was "leaking." Since 2021, multiple agencies have found in Gjøvik's favor against Apple including the EPA and NLRB. Gjøvik holds a Juris Doctor degree and has been active in public interest advocacy, focusing on human rights and corporate accountability.

John Klyczek has an MA in English and has taught college rhetoric and research argumentation for over a decade. His literary scholarship concentrates on the history of global eugenics and Aldous Huxley’s dystopic novel, Brave New World.  Klyczek is the author of School World Order: The Technocratic Globalization of Corporatized Education (TrineDay Books); and he is a contributor to Unlimited Hangout, New Politics, the Centre for Research on Globalization, the Activist Post, and many other publications.  In addition, he holds a black belt in classical tae kwon do, and he is a certified kickboxing instructor under the international Muay Thai Boxing Association.

Edward Hasbrouck is an award-winning travel writer, author, blogger, and journalist whose work focuses on technology and human rights. Edward is a member/organizer of the Working Group on Generative AI of the National Writers Union and the Authors' Rights Expert Group of the International Federation of Journalists

Neil Shah was a software engineer at a venture-backed AI startup. After taking a peek behind the curtain and not liking what he saw, he left his position. In the propaganda war that is AI, he seeks to help inform and activate tech workers who feel similarly.

Jason Munderloh has been working as an app-based driver for twelve years and has been active in advocacy for rideshare drivers for six years. He a driver leader with Rideshare Drivers United and is the head of the Bay Area chapter.
