6:00 - 7:30
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, which premiered on December 7, 1979, Sherilyn Connelly will read from her new work of scholarly sparkliness, The First Star Trek Movie: Bringing the Franchise to the Big Screen, 1969-1980.
She will read about the promotion, hype, and public frenzy surrounding the premiere, answer questions, and give a video presentation on how the deeply troubled film was marketed.
The human adventure is still just beginning.
Sherilyn Connelly is an SFPL Youth Services Librarian, and the head film critic for SF Weekly.
