Join SFMOMA researcher Yomna Osman for an exploration of the groundbreaking exhibition SOFT POWER. Appropriated from the Reagan-era term used to describe how a country’s “soft” assets such as culture, political values, and foreign policies can be more influential than coercive or violent expressions of power, the exhibition’s title contemplates the potential of art and offers a provocation to the public to exert their own influence on the world. The twenty international artists featured in the exhibition offer a multiplicity of voices and ideas, each examining in their own way the role that contemporary art plays in the world we live in.
This talk is organized by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in partnership with the San Francisco Public Library.
