Listen to the choir, under the direction of Steve Snelling, perform a program of 70’s California Pop classics from the likes of Joni Mitchell and Carol King to the Mama’s and the Papa’s and beyond. Steve Snelling is a popular San Francisco based jazz pianist and singer-songwriter with a playful pop sensibility and a love for the “Laurel Canyon Sound.”
The Openhouse Choir, from the Openhouse LGBTQ+ Senior Center, is part of the Neighborhood Choir Program for Older Adults and Adults with Disabilities, which is a collaboration between The Community Music Center and 15 Neighborhood and Senior Centers throughout the city. The tuition free program is primarily supported by the San Francisco Department of Disability and Aging Services (DAS). The Community Music Center, a 103-year-old non-profit institution, makes high quality music education accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities, regardless of financial means. With a newly expanded campus in the Mission, and also in the Richmond neighborhood of San Francisco, CMC students come from every neighborhood to learn and make beautiful music!
