1:00 - 4:00
Are you ready for a summer festival in January? Warm up your wind-chilled ears at the Bay Beats American Roots Concert on Saturday, January 24, in the Main Library's Koret Auditorium. This top-tier lineup features three bands with superb musicianship and novel approaches to Old-Time, Folk, and American Roots music. Using traditional instruments, these bands create beautiful and poignant music about our 21st century world:
1:00 The Meredith Edgar Trio - Haunting and jazzy folk; Meredith's wonderful vocals and songwriting make her a star of the local folk scene - playing shows throughout SF and the Bay.
2:00 - The Crooked Jades - Innovative Old-Time and Americana; The Crooked Jades have recorded eight albums and are Traditional Music legends. Their albums are a stunning display of instrumentation, textures, and styles.
3:00 - Evie Ladin Band - Contemporary, roots-based Folk; A famous clawhammer banjo player, Evie is also a multi-instrumentalist. The Evie Ladin Band's songs are moving and smart, backed by an interplay of strings and floating vocal harmonies. Evie also performs Body Music (a member of Crosspulse), has a solo album on Bay Beats, and performs and calls at square dances.
