Meet chickens and other farm animals at The New Farm as Lucky Diaz of The Lucky Band brings us a picture story about kindness, community and, of course, paletas: Paletero Man. Based on the musical hit by the same name, enjoy a delightful read-aloud by Diaz followed by a concert, book giveaway of Paletero Man and book signing. On the hottest day of the year, you will surely hear the beloved ring-ring-ring of the paletero cart at the playground. What’s your favorite paleta flavor? SFPL and The New Farm partner to bring fun for the whole family. For ages 5 and older.

Lucky Diaz is a bilingual, songwriting, taco-eating, multi–Latin Grammy Award–winning and six-time Emmy–nominated musician, children’s television personality and author. As a first generation Mexican-American and self-proclaimed Pocho, Lucky is honored to be a representative for diversity and inclusion in children’s media. Diaz's debut picture book, Paletero Man, has been celebrated with a Kirkus Star, SLJ Star, Publisher’s Weekly Star and Book List Star.  His next picture book, La Guitarrista, is slated for release in 2023 on Harper Collins.

He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Alisha, daughter, Indiana Maven, and their dog Django.

The New Farm is an ecology center, creative space and community gathering place. Andrew Pollack, founder of The New Farm, is the president of the Green City Project, an environmental nonprofit. The New Farm/Bay Natives Nursery, 10 Cargo Way, SF
