A new and original electrifying work that honors the life and words of Dr. Maya Angelou.
Set to original compositions by DeVanté Winn who was inspired by the sounds heard throughout Dr. Angelou's life, a small cast consisting of all Black women brings Maya Angelou’s poetic styling to life. Written by Leelee Jackson and directed by Devin A. Cunningham, From One to Another aims to reflect the lasting impact of her inspiring words and empowering voice through poetry, dance and music.
Presented by the San Francisco African American Shakespeare Company in commemoration of the new monument to Dr. Angelou, which will be unveiled at the Main Library in September.
