The chaos produced by our changing climate is steadily increasing. Poetry can be both solace and activism. Poets Molly Fisk and Kim Shuck invite you to hear poems from varied perspectives about wildfire, flooding and related catastrophes in California. They will be joined by six other contributors to the California Fire & Water anthology: Gene Berson, Heather Bourbeau, Aileen Cassinetto, Susan Cohen, Alison Luterman and Maw Shein Win

Both Fisk and Shuck were born and raised in San Francisco and were awarded inaugural National Laureate Fellowships from the Academy of American Poets in 2019.

Kim Shuck was the 7th Poet Laureate of San Francisco and is a Cherokee/Polish-American bead work artist and basket weaver. Among her many collections are Exile Heart and Pick a Garnet to Sleep In

Molly Fisk was the 1st Poet Laureate of Nevada County. Of colonial New England ancestry, she is the editor of California Fire & Water. Her latest poetry collection is The More Difficult Beauty, and her recent book of radio essays is Everything But the Kitchen Skunk
