Join us for an enlightening evening as the AfroSolo Arts Festival collaborates with San Francisco's 1st Tuesday's Spoken Word and the African American Center to present a vital discussion on how to handle police stops with confidence and safety. 

Enjoy a lite reception while engaging in a captivating presentation, inspiring poetry and a heartfelt community dialogue. Together, we'll explore essential steps to take before, during, and after a police encounter, all with the goal that you and the officer return home safely. Don’t miss this opportunity to empower yourself and foster understanding within our community!

The evening will include a presentation by AfroSolo’s Thomas Robert Simpson and poets C-Who?, Lillian “LisSis” Jack, R.O.D., Ron “RonGeezy” Gay and others.

1st Tuesday's Spoken Word TV showcase is a community event that was created by Terrell and Karwanna Irving of Big Mouth Productions. Put together as a positive space for expression through the arts, they highlight local talent and bring awareness to local businesses. For more than 5 years they have curated and hosted red carpet poetry events in Bayview and across San Francisco. 

AfroSolo Theatre Company's mission is to nurture, promote, and present African American art and African Diasporan culture through solo theatre performances, visual and literary arts. They're programming seeks to illuminate the diverse range of styles, disciplines, and perspectives of Black artists, using art to address issues of relevance to the Black community that empower and counteract negative stereotypes.

More Than a Month recognizes important events in Black history, honors community and national leaders and fosters steps towards collective change. Programming features authors, poets and craft classes. 

Attend programming, lectures and workshops intended for the BIPOC community.
