Learn about makahiki—a time of peace, feasting, competing in sport and games, hula and storytelling. Meet members of Mele o Kea, a five-piece band with foundations in Hawaiian music.
Hālau Haʻa Kea o Kinohi continues their Hula teacher, Kumu Paul Neves' cultural practice of the traditional ways of the Hawaiian people. They emphasize aloha as a lifestyle and ʻohana (family), alakaʻi (leadership/discipline), and lokahi (unity) as the core of our communal expression. Hālau Haʻa Kea o Kinohi want to support the creation of hālau ʻohana communities and lay a foundation of aloha with the goal to make a difference in the world through the practice of Hawaiian culture and values.
