美國
A reading commemorating Sisters Across Oceans, featuring writing inspired by a poetry exchange between West Africa, Hawaii and California.
Poet-activist Karla Brundage, founder of West Oakland to West Africa (WO2WA) and editor of Our Spirits Carry Our Voices, expanded her original vision of connectivity across the African Diaspora to Hawaii. For this book she worked in collaboration with the Links Inc., Hawaii Chapter and Ehalakasa, a group of poets headquartered in Accra, Ghana. Many of the writers have been previously published, and all are outstandingly successful in the arts, their communities and their professions.
Karla Brundage is a Bay Area based poet, activist and educator with a passion for social justice. She believes that in order to restore balance and to reclaim our humanity as Black people, racist structures that uphold this belief, must be dismantled. Her writing is primarily for Black women and people disenfranchised by poverty, abuse, neglect or violence. She is the founder of West Oakland to West Africa.
